Property Market Spotlight: What's Happening in Bonnyrigg?

With property prices continuing their steady rise in Edinburgh and the Lothians, it’s no surprise that the thriving Midlothian market town of Bonnyrigg has become increasingly popular with property buyers looking for homes that offer more “bang for your buck.”

According to the ESPC, the average selling price for properties in Bonnyrigg is just over £200,000 with the most popular property type being a three-bedroom house.  When you compare this to the average sale price for a three-bedroom house in Edinburgh itself of £336,258, it is easy to see why buyers are keen to widen their property search for more affordable homes.

At Warners, we currently have a number of properties for sale in Bonnyrigg.  Our expert legal team also act for many buyers who are looking to make this lovely town their new home.  Currently, we have a variety of homes for sale in Bonnyrigg with prices ranging from Offers Over £135,000 for a modern two-bedroom flat with Private Parking to Fixed Price £250,000 for a large five-bedroom family home with private gardens. Schooling is well represented from nursery to senior level, with five primary schools and one high school and Edinburgh College’s Midlothian campus in nearby Dalkeith.

The immediate vicinity lends itself to restful country walks - one of our favourite places is Dalkeith Country Park, approximately 15 minutes drive from Bonnyrigg town centre. There are also several golf courses nearby, Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club, Lasswade Rugby Club, a bowling club, a sports complex offering a variety of sporting activities and a leisure centre with swimming pool.

Bonnyrigg offers outstanding transport links, which operates to most parts of the town and surrounding areas, with buses to Edinburgh every ten minutes during peak hours, plus express services for commuters. Due to its close proximity to the Edinburgh City Bypass, there is easy access to the west side of the city, the central motorway network and Edinburgh International Airport. In the opposite direction, the A1 provides a direct route south and gives access to East Lothian’s sandy beaches and championship golf courses.
